This Page is a Work in Progress, More Stories to Come

Home

This is the environment that some of the homeless live in.

Window Pain

No umbrellas shelter rain, For those outside the window pain. Callused fingers, blistered feet, Are trophies earned from hardened streets. As one by one they sign their name, And smile through the open frame. A welcome voice greets all who come, And needs are met here one by one. And though the needs of all who come, Are monumental... everyone. They seem to ask for just enough, No greed, no excess or surplus. A fresh clean shirt, a sack of lunch, A place they can belong for once. This window is a place to see, The other side for them and me. Jennifer Peters

We offer more than food & clothing

After she lost her home (a tent) located on a vacant lot, our friend came to The Center For The Needy for help. Kathy provided her with a new tent, blankets, food, and a laugh to cheer her up.

DeSoto Health & Rehab Giving Thanks

Every year DeSoto Health & Rehab serves over 100 meals at the Center For The Needy on Thanksgiving. Heloise Badenhorst and her daughter Lume' Badenhorst share food and a smile.

Blessings From Live Oak

Every week (even during the off season) the residents from Live Oak RV Resort pay for, and put together over 400 bag lunches so that we can distribute them to the needy in our community.

Blessings From Toby's RV Resort

Claude D'Anjou, Harold Schantz, and Mike Magas spent the whole day in the hot Florida sun installing new doors for food and clothing distribution at the center. They also paid for all the materials.

Blessings From The Bignall's

Cold ears made warm from the loving hands of Sharon Bignall. Sharon has donated hundreds and hundreds of beautifully crocheted hats for adults and children over the years. Sharon and Jim are devoted donors to the Center For The Needy.

A Prayer And a Warm Touch

Sometimes a pair of shoes, and a bag of food are just not enough to heal the spirit. We are there to offer prayer to anyone in need.

Toby's RV Kissing Booth

Mereline Gagnon had a great idea to raise money for the Center For The Needy... she would build a kissing booth. Residents from the park came out in droves and she raised over $600. Even James couldn't help but give her a kiss when she presented us with the money.

Blessings from Craigs RV

For years now the residents of Craigs RV & Craigs Park Chapel have supported the Center For The Needy with donations of food, clothing, and money. Last week they arrived at the center with 5 (that's right I said Five) truck loads of food, then topped off the morning with a check. Thanks everyone.

Grace from Pleasant Lake RV

Each year for the past 8 years we have been blessed with truckloads of clothes from Pleasant Lake RV Resort in Bradenton. From the left; Sandy and Al Longer pose with Center For The Needy board member Kathy Peters behind a HUGH pile of clothes donated by residents of their community.

Continuous Help From Toby's RV

Residents from Toby's have been giving monetary donations, food and clothing for years and years. James Beckett (second from the left) poses with committee members after receiving a large monetary donation.

Construction Help From Oak Haven

Oak Haven's generous contribution has enabled us to complete the repairs on the back of our building.

A Visit From Suncoast Community Church

Ladies from The Suncoast Community Church in Sarasota donated tons of clothing. We enjoyed showing them through our facility, then Kathy joined them for a lovely lunch before they drove back to Sarasota.

Brother Eric & Our Board Member Theresa Jones

Brother Eric is a true Christian and a friend. Angles surround you on your next adventure. Thanks for your generosity.

Thanks to Everyone

We are waiting for pictures to complete our thanks to the scores of mobile home and RV parks, Churches, and Individuals who have supported us so we can serve the needy in our community.

Thanks For The Tents Nam Knights

The local Boondocks Chapter of the Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club's mission is to honor American veterans and police officers, especially those who have died in the line of duty, and to provide support and resources for veterans and police officers in need. They also strive to raise community awareness through sponsorships and fundraising activities.

GOING WHERE NEEDED

Jason and Amanda Tickle and members of the Upper Room Church of God serve breakfast to the needy in our community every Saturday morning in front of the Arcadia Center For The Needy. For over a year now they serve 80 to 100 meals from a table and small canopy tent on the sidewalk. Jason, his son Riley, and church member Dalyn also take food, carried in backpacks, to the homeless where they live; in overgrown lots, behind buildings, and alleys. The scooters they ride allow them to cover a lot of area in a short period of time. They are living out the spirit of Christ.
